When roads become snow-covered in Bloomfield, the township may tow cars parked on certain streets in order to enable more efficient snow removal. These streets are designated by the township code. That means if it snows and your car is parked on one of the Bloomfield streets listed below, it will probably get towed.

Tips for parking in Bloomfield during snowstorms and plowing
1. Check to see if you need to move your car.
Bloomfield may add or remove streets from its list of snow emergency streets. Check back here or reference the township code to see if your street is listed.
2. Find private spaces to park
If you have access to a driveway, park your car there. In 2017, Bloomfield Public Works and Park Maintenance said you can even park your car on the front lawn temporarily.
3. Keep an eye on public lots
After their plowed, some public parking lots in Bloomfield are made temporarily available for people who typically rely on on-street parking. As per the township, they include:
- Public school lots throughout the town
- Felton Field on Floyd Ave
- Pulaski Park on Mt. Vernon Ave
- Upper Memorial Park on Division St
- Clarks Pond South on Hobson St
- Wrights Field on Baldwin Place
4. Be on call
Major roadways and streets will be plowed first. So you might have to wait for them to plow a nearby street before moving your car. Depending on where you live, the police may drive through your neighborhood and make announcements via loudspeaker. But watch out – towing fees and a ticket could cost you upwards of $100.
5. Driveway duty
If you have a driveway, the township wants you to know that the plows will push snow back three feet when they come through. If you do need to clear your driveway’s apron before your street is plowed, piling snow on the left-hand side (when pulling into your driveway) will reduce the amount of snow plows push back.
